Ariana strikes back

Blue Glove Open: Fall 2022, Week 4

Like divisional opponents in the NFC or NL East, the top of the most interesting group has seen a lot of repetition lately. And repetition, we all know, breeds rivalry.

Ariana Ipakchi roared back after a few close losses to Yael Lan with a 8-6 victory in Week 4's Friday night clash to be named Player of the Week.

Perhaps the first match of the doubleheader warmed Ipakchi up instead of tiring her out. She also avenged tight losses to Tomas Mulita by storming past him in an 8-2 win, surprisingly in that all of their recent matches have been decided by a game or two. Ipakchi finished the week 3-0, with a win over Sebastian Parvizian.

After all the Group B turmoil, Ipakchi leads Lan by a hair's breadth, both on five wins. Lan has the better winning percentage, but it's game percentage that counts here, and all of Lan's group wins have come via one game.

In Group D, Finn Koski toppled leader Allison Tran to grab second place on game difference alone behind Kevin Parvizian, who is 3-0 after defeating returning mainstay Devin Leung, 7-3 and Caroline Ebert, 8-2.

The league also welcomed Kate Johnson, Adelei Freund, and Jake Snow, whose debuts foisted challenging opponents on them. All three look to rebound in Week 5, while newcomer Ted Wang earned his first win in Freund's opener.
