Group C leader Tomas Mulita notched a win over Group B's Ariana Ipakchi. Meanwhile, Rex Bondi shot up the Power Rankings and the Group A table all the way to second place.
For that, Mulita and Bondi are our Players of the Week heading into the penultimate weekend of the regular season. It looks like the former is a lock for the Group C final. Whom he'll play is up for grabs. Renata Cavallo holds the spot and has multiple chances this week to distance herself from the field. The two played on October 8 in perhaps a preview of the championship--with Renata prevailing 8-5.
Steven Herrle hopes to insert himself into the conversation, just one game behind Cavallo. He plays a Group D leader in strong form this weekend: Yasmin Farahi.
In Group A, everyone in the top nine has a realistic chance to make the final. Bora Barclay's once-unassailable lead is now down to three games over Bondi. But William Green trails the second final spot by only a match and has the benefit of a drawn match to add to his point totals. Plus, with Martin Ridao playing multiple matches this weekend, he has a chance to catch the leaders if he plays his cards right.
Unbeaten in six contests, Caleb Wade will look to surge higher in his match against Ridao on Sunday, one of many top clashes we're looking forward to. JT Mathura is set to play Chud and then Bondi (twice) this weekend.
The best always end up on a collision course. It's all a race to Championship Weekend, Nov 13-14.
