Javdan, Fromer open with wins

Blue Glove Open: Spring 2023, Week 1

Incubator players Parker Javdan and Paisley Fromer both embarked on successful maiden BGO voyages in victories that announced their arrival. Javdan defeated Vaughn Touw 8-5 in the best match of the weekend, while Fromer overcame Cornelia Touw 8-1. Both sit atop the early standings in Group C after their first-ever BGO matches.

However, their exploits were not quite enough to trump Ted Wang, who makes up the rest of their first-place triumvirate after his second shot at revenge for earlier losses to Andrew Liu. Wang's 8-4 win and early top spot see him named Player of the Week.

Serena Provinse took down a Group A mainstay in her season opener, likely the highest level of play seen over the weekend, in an emphatic 8-2 victory over Jai Arora. She leads the uppermost Group A after the first week alongside Daphne Dunlap, fresh off Travel Team accolades as Player of the Year and a Week 1, 8-1 win against fellow Incubator player Bridget Zimmermann.

Meanwhile, in Group D, Lara Dabney marched off to a strong start, defeating Shannon Bu just 4-1.

As Spring kicks off, Winter's championships remain to be played due to scheduling. The most anticipated is ready this week, between Group A finalists Alvaro Orlove and Spencer Weiss.

We await the conclusions of the Winter Finals!
