Tour Championship invitations are out

The Road to THE TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

The tour's first college-style team USTA event rounded out the yearlong season and provided a few players with the opportunity to qualify for next week's Tour Championship. The 10U players were placed into teams of two or four and duked it out for team supremacy.

At the Green level, Team 1, composed of Steven Huang, Thomas Huang, Justin Huang and Akirele Akiwumi went undefeated at 3-0 and took the championship. Team 3 came the closest with a 23-12 loss to the winners, and they closed out the silver medal in a tight 16-13 win agains Team 2.

In the opposite draw, Team 6 won over Team 5 in the match that decided the eventual title, 19-12. The champions included Penelope Huh, Jack Kivov, Shannon Bu, and Kamsiyonna Udejiofor. For the latter two, the points meant that they would be vaulted into the 10U Girls Tour Championship, with Udejiofor doing so in just her first tour event.

Each player competed at singles and doubles against each other team, with each match counting for one point in the overall total.

Five teams went at it in the Orange tournament in a single round robin group, with only two players per team. Ayaan Ghosh and Anika Ahuja teamed to take down Team 3 by a scoreline of 7-4 in the most dramatic match of the day.

That means that the Tour Championship tickets have been punched. Here are the current rankings. The top six boys are marked with *, the top six girls with ^. Players are listed where they have qualified, but some changes in age division will be made for those who have aged out of their group, as well as next-qualified players added in place of those with injuries.
